I did do this with my set - even though others have stated on these sets its not necessary. From memory, I don't recall seeing anything mentioned in the user guide about running in - which if it were necessary, you'd expect them to show it. (I may be wrong about that - it was a year ago I bought it!) When in doubt though, its best not to take chances - thats what I thought. Its no real issue though. Just means not using the "dynamic" setting for a few weeks. plasmas seems to attract some strange stories. Agreed. Whilst speaking to a couple of people at work (one of which was thinking of buying an LCD or backscreen projector) they confirmed to me that Plasmas only last 2 years and have to be replaced! Obviously being a proud owner of a Plasma, I was alarmed (well not really!) and argued the point (given the Panasonic has a 60,000 hour to half life expectancy.) I was then told "You think you know more than you do. You are the only person I know that thinks Plasmas are better. Everyone knows LCD is the way to go". I had to laugh! Obviously everything is personal choice and personally I wouldnt buy an LCD for the living room. The colours on a Plasma are far more vivid than those Ive seen on LCDs. I also dont like the viewing angle problems that some LCDs have. But hey, I voted with my wallet! ;-) last week a guy at work seriously warned me - ' don't forget - after a couple of years they need to be re-gassed' !? i asked him how exactly they would open 1024x768 individual sealed little things .... he had no answer. Yes, Ive heard that re-gassing one also. |

He's decided that 32" isnt big enough and 42" is too much. He's probably right on that given the size of his living room. I personally am a panasonic fan, so I'm playing the TH37PX60 against the newer TH37PX600 http://tinyurl.com/2b5r8j Everything I have heard about these sets is positive. But is the newer '600' model worth the extra couple of hundred quid? Personally I would say no. I have the 42" PX60. The sound quality is fine. The memory slot may be useful - but probably not. Having PIP would be nice - but unless that floats your boat, don't go there. If it were £75 then maybe...but not over £200. And would anyone like to recommend something they consider better? Nope - especially at those prices! Shame you cant have the 42" - Ive seen that for near enough your cheapest price on that link! (ie £25 more!) To be honest, I now wished Id bought the 50". You soon get used to the size and unless the room size is particularly small, I doubt 5 diagonal inches would make that much difference. My only regret was not waiting - and getting it for half the price I paid. But its not really a regret. I love the damn thing! The best I've seen the 37" for is about £900 with the stand that he needs. I cant see the 42" for less than 1099 I've seen the 42" for £900. It probably involved using vouchers. AV forums is usually a good source for best prices. Try also to buy through John Lewis if you can (with price match) to get their 5 year warranty... I paid £1000.00 for the for the 42" with cabinet just after Christmas at Empire Direct and am still chuffed to bits with every aspect of the TV. I seem to remember they were doing the same set with either the pedestal stand or wall bracket for about £100.00 less. This was without having to use any vouchers. |

Yup - that comes up to the £900 figure! I dont know of any PX60 buyers that are unhappy with their sets. (Apart from missing the reductions in price that early buyers missed out on - ie me!!!.) |

Empire direct want £1259 for the 42" '600' and cabinet at the moment. They dont seem to sell the '60' any more. So we've got 42" '600' with cabinet - £1259 (empiredirect) 42" '60' with cabinet - £1299 (comet) 37" '600' with cabinet - £1135 (digital point) 37" '60' with cabinet - £949 (digital direct) |

Having said that, if you look here - http://tinyurl.com/3bdgys (posted by DCA) the 50" is available for £1200 with cabinet. I know thats too big for you, but it sums up the competetiveness on the market. I have seen the 42" sub £1000 and it will be around somewhere again Im sure. |

The 37" is £879, which is a great deal but it smarts to get asked almost 10% more for delivery. They're all listed here http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/produ...=6&pcid=143,74 |

I would think a delivery charge of £50 or so was reasonable. The alternative for me would be to hire a van and beg a friend for help. Stan |
