that just happen to generate extra income for Sky. You will also have to pay for the extra electricity it will use recording things you don't want to watch. The Sky+ box only uses electricity when it's recording something? Seriously? That's really cool. How do they manage that? :-/ (In case you were wondering, that WAS sarcasm!) -- Carl Waring DigiGuide: http://getdigiguide.com/?p=1&r=1495 DGLite: http://getdigiguide.com/?p=4&r=1495 - FREE!!! |

All devices will use more electricity when they are doing something than when they are in standby not doing anything. My point was, that isn't Sky+ *always* 'doing something'? Does it not record to a buffer when it's not explicitly recording something as requested. If not, then I apologise. My Tivo is *never* off and so uses the same amount of electricity all the time. (In case you were wondering, yes I do think you're a thick **** for not realising this). Sarcasm can be quite funny but purely nasty comments are un-called-for and un-necessary. -- Carl Waring DigiGuide: http://getdigiguide.com/?p=1&r=1495 DGLite: http://getdigiguide.com/?p=4&r=1495 - FREE!!! |

Sky+ isn't Tivo. Its even spelt differently so that it doesn't confuse people like you. Really? You sure? I thought it was what with it being a completely different machine with completely made by completely different people for a completely different platform.... etc :-/ I can promise you that I am not in the slightest confused thay my far superior Tivo is anything like that pile of poo Sky+ :-D (In case you were wondering, yes I do think you're a thick **** for not realising this). "Ed" wrote in message So here is what Sky is going to force onto my decoder... http://anytime.sky.com/about/tv.aspx Sky's pick of the best TV programmes, updated daily Top quality movies to enjoy on a quiet night in Episodes from top shows like Lost and Weeds A great choice of kids' shows Hidden gems that you might not have otherwise seen Choose from up to 40 hours of TV I still fail to see the point of this. I am not going to have someone else tell me what I want to watch. I'll record what I want - I very much doubt that Sky's 'suggestions' will tally up with my usual viewing. Its for advertisers, not viewers. The idea is for broadcasters or programme sponsors to pay Sky to have their show pushed at viewers whether they want them or not. Its sole purpose is to generate additional income for Sky. The user can disable it...bit of a crappy sole purpose. |

When you put the box in standby, it does NOT record any buffer. By putting the box in standby I reckon it's a 10-20 watt saving. Also when in standby the box can record two channels at once without potential clashing problems. |
