I have Comcast and there DVR HDTV box and what I notice with the morning
news shows is that the volume from news to commercial is 2 times louder when they go to commercial. I emailed Comcast asking if there was a constant volume output setting in the cable box and was told no. I then emailed NBC in Chicago telling them they have a problem on the HD channel but don't hold out much hope from them. So does anyone know of a device that would go between the digital coax out from my cable box and my Sony amplifier that would level the input to the amplifier? I stopped at Circuit City but they didn't have anything and they mentioned that they had customers looking for the same thing but their problem was with the Wow box and not Comcast. Thanks for any help, Rich |

I have found the same thing and find the mute button on the remote an
invaluable and most satisfying aid. "Rich" wrote in message g.com... Thanks for any help, Rich Depending on which DVR you have and which menu software revision your local Comcast is running. If it is a Motrola DCT 6412 III there should be a set up menu. Find it. then under Audio Setup set the audio output to Advanced The menu should then expand to include compression setting. Set it to Heavy. That will reduce the jumps in volume levels. Good Luck Fred |

Also it is not unique to Comcast. We moved from Jacksonville, FL (Comcast) to South Georgia and now have Mediacom. Same audio problem. Keep the remote in your hand with you finger on the mute button. If you so choose, use your other hand and middle finger to salute the advertisers and sound engineers that condone this cheap gimmick. Ross |
