Default Recommendations for amplified speakers?

I'll be getting an HDTV soon, probably the 61" Samsung.
I already have a stereo, but I don't want to have to
turn on the stereo to listen to the TV. So I'm looking
to get just a pair of amplified speakers. I was looking
at the Bose Companion II speakers, but read that they
don't have a power switch. Can someone recommend an
inexpensive (around $100) pair of amplified speakers
that would provide additional sound?

-Thanks

You could have a pair of beautifully designed speakers if you choose PC
speakers.
They are connected to the earphone jack. Only disadvantage is that the
earphone jack disconnects the internal speakers in the TV.
But the speakers should make up for that.
For an instance:
http://www.amazon.com/Altec-Lansing-.../dp/B0000C20XD

Price tag: Price: $53.27
