Default Sky HD - Just 1 feed needed?

I've Sky but cannot get Sky Plus because I don't have 2 incoming feeds. I've
been told that a Sky HD box is also a recordable box and only needs 1 feed.
Can someone confirm this?

TIA,
M.

Both boxes will work to an extent with just one feed. Neither will
work fully without two feeds.

Sky are working on a system to allow these boxes to function properly
with just one cable.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the satellite dish needs
replacing/upgrading if Sky HD is purchased (I thought I saw someone mention
it elsewhere). I'm on a shared dish (multi-apartment building).

When using Sky HD box with Sky Digital shared dish system in an apartment
block which provides only one feed to your flat, the HD box will work with
limited funtionality.

You will be able to watch HD programmes as well as standard programming,
and you will be able to record those programmes.

You will not be able to record a second channel or watch one channel while
recording a second, as you would if you had a second Sky Digital feed.

If you have your own dish, buy a double/quad LNB from ebay for about £15
and run a second cable to the box.

Thanks. I'll check with Sky when the new '1 cable' system is forthcoming.

Sky HD has the same requirements as Sky+.

What he should have said was: "Sky are working on a system to allow
boxes *like these* to function properly with just one cable".

I don't think that it will work with current boxes.
