Default No signal

We've had no signal on the sky+ and other sky box since yesterday. Problem
is, the helplines are constanstly busy. Does anyone have a direct number (or
number that doesn't end up in an Indian call-centre), as the one time in 24
hours we'vemanaged to speak to someone, they jusy gave us the sky+ help
number to phone instead, and put the phone down on us.

Cheers,

Toast.

Has your dish been knocked out of alignment due to the winds?

First, though, have you tried unplugging your box and plugging it back in
to
check if it finds the channels again?

I suspect now it's the wind that has done it; we have unplugged and
re-plugged the box many times over the last 24 hours or so. We need to try
and get the company back who installed it.

What is even more anoying than having no sky, is having no access to the
programs we had stored on the sky+ box- we have loads of stuff ready to
watch, and couldn't!

That is one thing that would irritate me immensely about a Sky+ box.

If there's a time when you occasionally get a 'no signal' message for, say, a
few minutes, eg. when watching a recording, would that also affect the playing
back of a programme?

I'd hate to archive stuff to DVD, only to dig out the DVD long after I've
deleted it from the box, or when taking it round to show a friend, only to
find a portion of it missing due to a bit of bad weather during playback, let
alone the recording!

Whats the difference between 'watching a recording' and 'playing back
a programme'? The same thing AFAICS.

Not sure what happens on playback if the signal drops, its easy to see,
remove the connectors whilst playing back, it might be OK if its can see the
signal whilst it starts. Anyway the number of times you will get no signal
is miniscule so this isnt an issue in the real world . If you get 'no
signal' a lot, you need to get it fixed not worry about how it will affect
recordings.

the number of times that is going to happen is minute, if its a constant
problem, get it fixed.
