Hello!
What Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung, Sharp or any other 26" flat pannel TV could be used as a monitor with a DVI output of a computer with the same resolution as the native resolution of the TV matrix? Should the computer resolution be the same as the native resolution of the TV matrix for a small text being shown clear? All 26" flat pannel TV manuals with I read indicate that TV's DVI or HDMI input cannot be used with a computer and a computer video resolution could not be the same as the native resolution of the TV matrix, therefore a scaling is required. The scaling makes small text unclear. Best regards, Dima +79035093892 |

Although I see no reason you can't use all of the Tv's display resolution using DVI. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html Usenet alt.video.ptv.mythtv My server http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php HD Tivo S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm |

It seems to depend upon the set. I have a Vizio 42" LCD that won't do native resolution thru the HDMI connector, but will thru the VGA connector provided you can persuade your video card to do 1366x768. I also have a Mitsubishi HD1000U projector that has no trouble doing native (1280x720) via a DVI to HDMI adapter. I'm using MythTV and nVidia cards and am having no troubles get 1:1 pixel mapping. |

I have an adapter cable to convert the HDMI to DVI for the cable TV signal and the VGA input for the computer. http://www.amazon.com/Syntax-Olevia-.../dp/B0007R8YGI But I have to plug the cable box audio output to the computer audio input on the TV to hear the TV in the pip window while typing now on the main screen showing the computer. 1280 x 768 resolution on both works best. Then you have to change to a bigger FONT. What I'd really like to see some day is typing in on the computer screen hovering over the background TV screen. Maybe with Vista. Or using the black are below the TV screen for computer lines. |

Thanks Wes Newell for replying!
The d-sub output of my video card is already used by my computer monitor. The DVI output is left free. I want to use it for the TV. Best regards, Dima A maximum HDMI resolution is usualy 1080i, not 1366*768. Wes Newell wrote: On Tue, 16 Jan 2007 23:26:39 -0800, Dima wrote: Hello! Hello!
d-sub computer output is used by my main computer monitor. Any resolution different from TV matrix resolution would be shown with scaling, which makes small fonts fuzzy. Manuals indicate that maximum resolution for HDMI/DVI is 1080/50i, not 1366*768. Best regards, Dima Wes Newell wrote: On Tue, 16 Jan 2007 23:26:39 -0800, Dima wrote: Hello! Why do you or I have to change to a bigger FONT? Does TV overscan DVI input? Anthony Marsh wrote: Dima wrote: Hello! Does Mitsubishi HD1000U overscan HDMI input? What software should I use to "persuade my video card to do 1366x768"? Thanks Anthony Marsh for your experience! Why do you or I have to change to a bigger FONT? If you make the screen resolution higher the letters look too small. So you have to change to a bigger font size to compensation. And maybe large icons. Does TV overscan DVI input? It upscales into HD. Anthony Marsh wrote: Dima wrote: Hello!
