I'll be getting an HDTV in the next month or two. I'm
leaning towards the 61" Samsung DLP set. Since I'm already going to have an XBox 360 and other equipment connected, I'd like to avoid getting a home theater system, and just get two decent sounding amplified speakers. I read that you need to connect an amplifier to the audio out of the TV, and can't simply connect regular speakers. Can you connect two amplified speakers to the TV? If so, can you recommend some? -Thanks |

Because you will have a Xbox and other equipment, you do not want a amplified receiver and normal speakers? |

I understand your question. These are meant for just what you propose: "No Receiver? No Problem! For listening to real stereo sound Audioengine is all you need. If you want awesome speakers for your portable music player, game console, TV or DVD player but don't want a bulky receiver/amp hogging up your space, the Audioengine 5 system does the job." http://audioengineusa.com/ |

Yes, because I have a lot of equipment I'll be connecting, I don't want an extra amplifier in the fray. Some others in this thread have already pointed out some amplified speakers which should work nicely. |

Some others in this thread have already pointed out some amplified speakers which should work nicely. Just check your needs/possibilities regarding volume control. If your sources (and TV) only have fixed line level audio outputs, you are expected to adjust the volume with the manual control on those speakers. /Jan |
