With all of this talk from Nintendo and their people about HD being useless in videogame systems (the ones that have the power to support it), I find it funny that Wii commercials are demonstrated on HDTV's. I think that this gives a false representation of the machines capabilities. The ads are very misleading. It also contradicts Nintendo's hate of HDTV. A: What would you have them show the Wii on? A ten year old CRT? For ten year old technology - yes. Nearly every TV is HD or HD ready these days, unless you're cheaping out. B: Who says Nintendo hates HDTV? They did and so did their employees on this group and other websites. I am sure they only hate it because the Wii cannot do it. Man, I wished this Wii will flop and fall off so that Nintendo could stop peddling there old-school, broken down games... |

Even though the 360 has been out for a year more than Wii, Nintendo's console will soon outsell it. Nintendo's focus was to create a small system that isn't as noisy as the 360 leaf blower. Thus, they employed new technology to make the parts smaller, faster, and less power hungry. What you see inside the Wii console is not old technology. It is state of the art technology, only the focus was more on making it smaller, quieter and more efficient rather than bigger, faster, noisier and more power draining. Only a complete moron would claim that the only way technology can move is towards being bigger and badder. Such a person would have to claim that state of the art mobile technology is "old technology" because the focus is on making it small and efficient rather than big and powerful. It should be evident to anyone with the ability to think rationally that such a claim is silly. |

Actually, the technology inside the Wii is NOT state-of-the-art. Everything,
even the controller, is old technology pieced together in a new way. Basically what Nintendo is selling with the Wii, to use car terms, is a 2001 Ford Focus that has features to make it comparable to a 2006 Dodge Caliber. It put some stuff in it to make it seem new, but in the end it's still a repackaged Gamecube. Andre "Stabby Rip Stab Stab" wrote in message ... Both the CPU and GPU were built from the ground up specifically for Wii, and the goal was to make them smaller, quieter, and they were to use less electricity. It now uses only 1/3 of the electricity used by the GameCube. Basically what Nintendo is selling with the Wii, to use car terms, is a 2001 Ford Focus that has features to make it comparable to a 2006 Dodge Caliber. Just because it's using the same architecture doesn't mean that there aren't significant changes under the hood. It's smaller, faster, and uses less electricity than GC because it was specifically designed to do so. |

Well you could say that about the ps3 - it's just how small you define the pieces that you want to re-use isn't it? I would argue quite strongly that the controller is state of the art though as I certainly haven't ever seen an interface that uses both pointer and motion sensing wirelessly at the same time. Hell, I've never even heard of a similar device that even worked this well at all! |

Lies, lies lies, all of them! Nintendo has no shame. They need to
have integrity like Sony and show Killzone and Motorstorm 05 demos. - The Rich And yes :-P. Please don't make me have to tip off sarcasm in a post. Well, I had better or maybe I will be guilty of deceptive practices. lulz did you see the sony video with the baby? ie that american ad. The only thing I can compare what it's trying to depect is the corruption of the youth by sony. |

They only focused on that because they knew that they could not compete with the big boys. The just repackaged a GC and called it new. It now turns out that this strategy has been extremely successful. Even though the 360 has been out for a year more than Wii, Nintendo's console will soon outsell it. It has not and will not. The Wii only sold because it was cheap when compared to the two real machines. If the other two had been $300 each, the Wii would have had to sell for $150 or less. Nintendo is just making as much as they could off of it. You would have to be a total idiot to spend $250 on a Wii instead of $300 on a 360. After a while, that Wii controller will be a memory and the bull**** games cannot carry the load. People alreayd see the limitations of the Wii. Why do you think that the 360 games show the graphics on the commercials and the Wii likse to shy away from show the grpahics? Nintendo's focus was to create a small system that isn't as noisy as the 360 leaf blower. My 360 is not noisy to me. Some people must have sensitive ears... Thus, they employed new technology to make the parts smaller, faster, and less power hungry. New technology? How about the usual shrinking old technology? It happens all of the time. There is NOTHING new about the Wii except the name. What you see inside the Wii console is not old technology. It is state of the art technology, only the focus was more on making it smaller, quieter and more efficient rather than bigger, faster, noisier and more power draining. Oh boy. How we don't see new technology on the screen? Only a complete moron would claim that the only way technology can move is towards being bigger and badder. Better and badder( I noticed that you left out BETTER) is the way it always moves buddy. You hardly ever see people using old technology and marketing it as new. Such a person would have to claim that state of the art mobile technology is "old technology" because the focus is on making it small and efficient rather than big and powerful. As usual, you are trying to confuse the issue. NO ONE ever said that small things are not technologically advanced. You are just making BS excuses and coming with a non-issue to act as if you have a vlaid claim. Everyone know that mobile phones get better and use more advanced technology all of the time. Name phones that dig in the crates for old time technology and market it as new. It should be evident to anyone with the ability to think rationally that such a claim is silly. Yeah. Why were YOU the one to bring it up? |

Listen young man, go back to the 5th grade and learn something. Nintendo is a maker of the past. They sold yes, but what happens from here until July will tell you what the deal is. None of the games look mind blowing while almost all of the latest 360 games devastate the mind. Even the PS3 can't deal. |
