Default Comcast Current HD STB?

What is the current HD STB you get from Comcast? I'm just about to buy an
HDTV and would like to see info on the STB.

I'm using the SA8300HD DVR and it seems to work all right.

If it's got tits, tires, tubes, or transistors, it's trouble.

They vary by market.

Your location would help.

I got the Motorola DCT6200 last November..
There's a user manual for it on the internet:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/dct6200/downloads/DCT6200_User_Guide.pdf

I'm in the Atlanta area. I don't know if that makes any difference.

Call the local Comcast office and ask what make and model of settop box
they are currently installing.

Call them and ask what your options are. There are newer boxes coming all
the time.

Comcast in this area uses the Motorola boxes: 5100, 6204, 6408, 3412, and
3416 if memory serves. You have to call the local office. In some cases, it
might vary across the franchise area, city to city, one part of the county
versus another, etc. and due to supply on hand.

A good place to lurk and ask -
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=45 "Local HDTV Info and
Reception". Threads are broken down by local areas, "Washington, DC /
Baltimore, MD - HDTV" for example. Registration is free and harmless but
you'll get the most useful info after letting people know your location.

YMMV
