A google search of this group for cablecard
will find hundreds of messages. Sift through them and you'll find
all sorts of things including some saying you won't see cablecard
support in PC tuners.

I bet you will also find a few calling you a troll, so it must be
true.

If ignorance is bliss, you must be in heaven.

Sorry, your witless cliches change the fact that you are a troll.

The nice thing about open competition is that you can
get a variety of options. There are even multiple major vendors
providing completely turnkey WinMCE solutions. So there is going
to be considerable downward price pressure.

You can get pretty much any mix of features you want
out of a PC PVR. Each component can be as fancy or as cheap
as you want it to be.

I doubt you will be able to get this combination:

- Records HD format in full resolution.
- Can be used with Cablecard.
- Automatically posts anything copy-protected to the Internet with
the copy-protection removed.
- Can be set to automatically delete commercials.
- Doesn't have to be "hacked".
- Can be purchased in a store ready to use.

largely because anyone selling it will get sued by the MPAA.

No, it isn't. You can't build your own CableCARD PC, period. Look at
Stop spreading misinformation.

No, he's right. At the present time it's not possible to obtain a barebones
cablecard capable tuner for use in 'building your own PC'. And that
limitation is not a technological one, it's because of DRM and licensing.
You might want it to be different, but the tide's not running in your
direction.
