Default old sky box dead?

I have an old Grundig sky box, very old.

It's recently stopped working. Whenever I connect the mains lead,
instead of going to standby, all the LEDs on the display flicker and
there's a rapid ticking sound (probably the sound of the LEDs switching
on and off). This happens irrespective of whether there is a sky card
inserted or whether the inputs and outputs are used.

Anything I can do or is it for the bin?

Thanks for any advice.

Google for re-set sequence.
