I have an old Grundig sky box, very old.
It's recently stopped working. Whenever I connect the mains lead, instead of going to standby, all the LEDs on the display flicker and there's a rapid ticking sound (probably the sound of the LEDs switching on and off). This happens irrespective of whether there is a sky card inserted or whether the inputs and outputs are used. Anything I can do or is it for the bin? Thanks for any advice. |

Google for re-set sequence. |

A rapid ticking sound is characteristic of a faulty power supply unit. Several firms sell psu repair kits for DIY use for around a tenner, or you can get Sky to repair/replace the box for a standard £65 call-out fee. There's also Ebay in case the minor fault you found is actually a massive failure. I went that route to get a silver Panasonic. -- Julian Richards www.richardsuk.f9.co.uk Website of "Robot Wars" middleweight "Broadsword IV" I've got a grundig in the loft sitting unused that you can have for £20 |
