Default Panasonic Freeview Boxes TU-CT20 and TU-CT30

Panasonic are offering a software update for each of these boxes in the week
beginning 8th January 2007...

For the TU-CT20 (of which I have two from Oct2002 and Feb2003 - still in
daily use) there is an update DCB_A_1.19....this is presumably for those
boxes working with DCB_A_1.14 or DCB_A_1.15 .

Whether this new update will also work with boxes using DCB_1.15 I don't
know ....

http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl

There is a provisional booking for v0.44 for the TU-CT30 also ....

Interesting! I thought the party line from Panasonic was that there
would be no new releases for the TUCT20. What's the chances of:

a) Support for 7 or 14 day EPG
b) A software version that doesn't crash so often!

Thanks for the heads-up.

MH.

And one that shows the correct aspect ratio on 4:3 TVs so that faces
are not pulled out horizontally!

It appears that the update wont work for boxes running DCB_A_1.14, but does
work OK for DCB_A_1.15 units.

DCB_A_1.14 boxes respond with, 'Your software is up-to-date' which is a bit
strange seeing as it is not up to date!

Boxes already running DCB_A_1.15 will be offered the update to DCB_A_1.19

Unfortunately it appears that the update has little in the way of
improvements, especially in the EPG and graphic user interface department...
In fact I am not sure what has changed for the better, since I updated a
spare one (which was running DCB_A_1.15) that was hanging around here.

Would anyone care to comment on any improvements when using DCB_A_1.19 ??

Archie

I also updated today from DCB_A_1.15, and wondered what had changed!

I tried to update my TUCT20 last night, using a variety of different
channels, absolutely no joy. Tried loads and loads of times.

Is there any secret to this process?

MH (Hannington, currently using DCB_A_1.15)

I tried to update on 8 Jan around 10 am, but nothing happened. About 15
minutes later the box flashed up a message that a new software update was
available. Only then was I able to download it.

My box running DCB_A_1.12 updated to .19 quite happily this morning.

There's a long and fairly informative thread on this subject at
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...3#post12280053

Apparently there are two different versions of the TUCT20 in existence,
and only one variant will respond to this software update.

My box is _not_ running DCB_A_1.15, despite what I said above -
it has DCB_1.15 without the 'A', which means I don't get the update.

Now for the big question. What is different? Anthing, nothing?
