Default Damage to all components when using a faulty HDMI selector?

Last night I purchased an 3X1 HDMI switch to run to HDMI DVD players to my
TV with only one HDMI input.
Once everything was hooked up I turned everything on, but there was no
video signal from the switch and the Panasonic DVD player was running an
error code on it's screen about a damaged or non compatible HDMI device.
I unhooked the HDMI switch and tested out everything - everything SEEMS
fine, but I wanted to see if anyone has this sort of experince before and
if I might have damaged parts of my system, primarly my TV's HDMI input.
Thanks for the help!

Also I should mention that the problem with the HDMI switch is that the
HDMI inputs were not deep enough, so that all connections were not fully
flush.

My guess it would be the switch. And since everything seems Ok, I would'nt
worry. Have a look at BetterCables. I have purchased many items from this
company ( but not a switcher ) and I can tell you their products do
definatly make a differance. I recently purchased a HDMI cable as a cable
that I had previously used before on another tv just did'nt look good on my
new Toshiba 1080p DLP. I got BetterCables HDMI cable ( 6 foot , about
$99.00 ) and my picture improved about 25-30 % And my "other" cable was a
name brand, no not Monster ( crap by the way ). While the switcher is a bit
pricy, it will work. And they are great if you have to return something.Call
and see if they can help you out. here is the link to their switcher.

luck...and post your results when done please.

I'd be very interested to know how a change in the cable carrying a
digital signal could cause a change of 25-30 percent in picture quality.
If you really observed this effect, there is some other variable in the
mix.
