Default Distracting messages on the screen during movies!

We bought Sky a few months ago and noticed for the first time during the
Hogfather this really annoying brightly coloured message in the top right as
well as the usual but equally annoying subdued channel number in the upper
left corner. It was so distracting I couldnt even concentrate on the movie
and tried for half an hour to get rid of it until I realised that you have
to press backup to get rid of it, wasting half the movie in the process. But
then it comes back again after every advert break so Im constantly having to
press backup after every advert break! I have to say if this continued in
all of the Sky programmes I,m going to have to quit Sky its so bloody
annoying.

Anyone else get really annoyed at these?

As if the advertising breaks are not as aften enough Im nw supposed to
endure constant messaged on the screen as well? What a load of crap.

Try complaining to them, they really don't care, they just say they
researched it and everyone likes it. The main channels are getting as
bad though.

Most people are annoyed (personally I think it's a way of getting people to
subscribe to Sky+ so you'll pause or record it to HD before archiving to
tape or disc) Then there was the *Also available in HD*... So now another
ploy to get us to buy HD?
Wonder if the HD Channel also carried "Also available on Sky One Digital" !!
? LOL!

As Paul states in his reply, you can complain to Sky but they'll reply "We
have carried out extensive market research and viewers find it useful"
(Probably means they asked Murdoch and his cronies)

Quite... BBC+License fee=No Ads, Sky+Subscription=paying for Ads :-/

I think the only market research Sky carried out (along with ALL the other
broadcasters) is people have HD or DVD Recorders and they want to let you
know you recorded it from their channel if doing so!

Even ITV depress everybody with that bloody *Not enjoying the festive
season, feel depressed...Call Careline* I was going to phone to say "I'm
depressed..TV is ruined because of your friggin' constant banner running
across the screen" (Wonder if anyone has actually done that for a laugh?)

(I bet if DVD's came out like that full of graffiti, They'd be given free!)

On the Scifi channel they have a little woman walking around in the
corner of the screen telling you that some programme or other is going
to be on at the same time that it is always on. Just in case you might
have forgot. Then they have some huge white text that tells you what
film is goimg to be on later. All of it hard coded into the programme,
so there's no backup button to get rid of it.

I stopped watching it because of that ..watching the 'digitally remastered'
Startrek they trumpeted about with a ****ing great logo on it all the time
and then ads coming telling you what was on next.

There's a menu option where you can turn these off. Learn how to use
your box.

Any manufacturer of SKY boxes who bring one out with an option to
PERMANENTLY turn graphic logos off would make a fortune

BTW you get them with FREEVIEW too and my FREEVIEW control has no backup
button, arghhhh!
