Anyone knowledgeable on Pioneer Elite HDTV Plasmas?
Do the PRO-1000HD, the PRO-1010HD and the PRO-1000HDi have much in common as to their electronics? Know where I can get an S/M for the PRO-1000HD or the PRO-1010HD? Have one for the PRO-1000HDI. Bob Miller |

As someone who has owned and owns several Pioneer Elite products ( tv"s, laserdisc, dvd's, recievers and soon to be the new Bluray dvd player ) I highly recommend them. They generally have a "cousin" of the same type, say a dvd player, but the Elites have some upgrades that will be a noticable improvement in quality. That can be a better de-interlacer, better chips, chassis, etc. Not to mention the Elite warrantys are longer than "regular" Pioneer products. Even though I have two Toshiba DLP tv's ( great quality ) I'm thinking of getting the new Pioneer Elite ProFHD1 plasma. It's 50 inches...so not too big, nor too small. It's sells for roughly $8000.00 ( yes that's $8000.00, MSRP is $10,000.00 ) with sales you shold be able to get it for $500.00 or so cheaper. It will also display 1080P...not 1080i like other plasmas. Hook this up to the Pioneer Elite Bluray dvd player and you won't believe how incrediable the picture is. I have seen this combo hooked up and have watched Bluray movies ( excellent, outstanding picture quality ) and regular dvd movies ( very good picture quality ) For me, this set up would be for watching movies only, no tv. Is $9500.00 ( ballpark ) too much to spend on 2 items, it depends on you wallet and if you can justify to yourself ( & spouse if necessary ), on spending that. I personally will be streching my $$$$, but for me it will be well worth it. I watch all my movies at home. I have not been to the movie theater since Terminator 3 was out. Check out Pioneers site and compare their specs, then go to a store and view for yourself. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...20061231205600 Note...I did see this setup in Best Buy in San Diego last week...the tv was on sale for $7600.00 and the Bluray will be around $1400.00, but as of then it had not been released for the public to buy, but I believe that it is now. |

I signed up for an FHD1000 HD early order, but , on it's release date, after side by side looking at HD 1080i/p with Blue Ray, I found it very difficult to justify the extra 4-5K. 9000 vs 4400. I'm an early adopter/sucker, but the picture on my 1130 ( preceded the 1140) at 8-10 feet is outstanding in all regards- my view as well as others. If $ is no object, the 1000 would be my choice, as suggested by the other writer. J |
