I bought a Samsung 1080p DLP set about 5 months ago from Circuit City. Its
the HL-S5087W model. About a month ago it started developing this artifact in the upper right hand corner. Showed up on DVD's and Dish which both go in via seperate HDMI ports. Also shows up on over air input. Recently got very worse. Here is a picture of it displaying a blue screen at night. http://tinyurl.com/y6mbsx Called Samsung and they tell me I will have to wait up to 14 working days for them to find out how to get it serviced since I am 75 miles out from nearest service center. Anyone out of curiousity know what is likely wrong with it? M |

If the pix is accurate, you need a light engine---common on Samsunks! Gee, that was helpful. So Mr Cabeza, what is your preference since you don't like Samsung? GG |

I put the solid blue screen up so it would be easier to see the problem. Thats what it looks like and slowly getting worse. Also, anyway on Samsung to tell hours on the current lamp or set? Matt |

You saw nothing wrong with that image? http://tinyurl.com/y6mbsx Its supposed to be a solid blue with the Samsung logo. Instead there are jagged lines all through it and shaded blocks. Since television comes in a series of flashes it usually hard to catch an accurate image with a camera but this is pretty representive of what I see with my own eyes and it looks like crap. These lines and shaded areas show up when watching Dish, DVD's and etc. I put the blue screen up so it would be easy to see in one image. Used to have a perfect picture months back. Matt |

Matt Collapsed light tunnel between the lamp and color wheel? Hard to tell as I don't know what the Samsung screen should look like, but it should be under warranty, regardless, unless the set has been abused. Collapsed light tunnel between the lamp and color wheel? Hard to tell as
I don't know what the Samsung screen should look like, but it should be under warranty, regardless, unless the set has been abused. Its ~5 months old. They(Samsung) say I am ~75 miles from service center and its going to be up to 7-14 working days before they figure out "what" they are going to do to get it fixed. Bought that super extended warrenty deal with it at/with retailer. He spent ~20 minutes talking me into it before my no finally went to yes. My understanding at that time was one phone call would get this fixed in a few days in home no matter what. My opinion now is I was a, I wont say. Matt |

Call or better yet, visit the store where you bought it from and use their
leverage to help you get this resolved. In the store say loud enough to be heard by others shopping I bought this warranty at your insistence to guard against things just like this and I want it resolved as I understand the warranty I purchased. Unit needs a complete Light Engine replacement, Parts can be ordered from
Samsung and installed by either the Circuit City Service or their third party service in your particular area. Seeing many of these particular sets with this problem. CC Tech (Detroit Michigan Area).
