Default TV licence via eMail

Has anyone tried the new email licence option?

I paid for my TV licence renewal on the website and selected the option to
receive my licence via email. I received a mail which was supposed to contain
an attachment but my mail clients (on OS/2 and Linux) failed to see an attachment.
The raw data contained "Voltage Message Blocks" which I haven't seen before.

I asked the licensing people what client was required to handle the mail but
instead of answering the question they said they will post me a paper copy.

I paid for a new license using the online system in September and got an
email with a link to the license which I then printed off. I've never used
OS/2 or Linux so I have no idea what "Voltage Message Blocks" means.

I received the attachment but on trying to open it got a,

"This is not a valid Win32 application"

which then crashed Outlook

Rebooted and the same thing happened again.

Rebooted and saved the attachment, then closed down Outlook. Tried to
open the saved attachment and was informed.

"You do not have the rights to open this file"

Reopened Outlook and sent an angry email to TV licencing telling them
to get their act together - an organisation such as theirs shouldn't
release software which is total crap and I had wasted, in total half
an hour of my life and next time I'll send a cheque in the post (which
is not what they really want)

Awaiting the response.

Interestingly they mention on that my payment is acknowleged, but
printing out a hard copy is desirable in case the Gestapo call at my
house.

Graham
