Default Time-Warner, S.A. Explorer 3250HD and 1080i?

I'm in Cincinnati and am having trouble getting the 1080i signal to play
coming out of the Scientific Atlanta box into a Zenith C27V22. I see the
picture (with audio) for a couple seconds and then screen goes black and I
get a message that says "Please connect a valid video format, then press
enter. 480p, HD1080i 60 Hz". Any ideas, or, do I need to take the tv to the
shop?

Kevin

you need to set your SciAtl box for 1080i fixed output
try a composite or s-video out for the setup

Problem is, there are no options in the sttings on the SA box for "fixed
output" or "pass through". I set that by selecting 1080i only. I still have
the problem regardless of which way I go there. It seems to me like the tv
is accepting the signal for a couple or three seconds, then rejecting it,
accepting, rejecting, etc..., etc..infinitely. I received a response back
from Zenith support today with a phone number for further troubleshooting.
If I can find the solution, I'll be sure to post it because I've found a few
others with the same issue and no fix has been reported at this point. Right
now I'm having to settle for 480p viewing and that's not what I'm paying
for. I hope this is just something trivial and not an expensive repair.
I've been trying to access the setup wizard on the hd box unsuccessfully
too. I'm probably doing something wrong but, I'm usually pretty good at
following directions. FWIW I have watched 1080i on this tv before about two
years ago when I had Voom for a bit. At least, I reasonably sure it was
1080i. Was definitely a better picture than I'm getting now with 480p.

Thanks for the help,
Kevin

I have the SA 8300HD box and my box keeps defauting to 480i. The problem
seems to be a software issue with the SA boxes.

Hi Bob,

Have they offered any kind of solution yet? I haven't found any helpful
info on the Sa site or Zenith's either one. Mostly just manuals and
irrelevant Faq"s. I more suspicious of the tv for now since it does almost
the same thing when I try to play progressive scan through my dvd player.
Still it reacts somwhat different. It never displays a picture, only the
message I spoke of previously and the black screen. The dvd is a Zenith
DVB312, if that has any significance. Not even sure of the output from that
it's been so long since I've messed around with it. I know thw tv wants to
recieve the dvd signal as 1080i but, obviously, that's not the output. I'll
have to look into that again.
