Default Sony A2000 rear projection LCD HDTV

Hello. I just recently purchased this tv (50") and am wondering how to
set up the tv to get the best picture. I switched out a 42" plasma
that seemingly had a much better picture, especially during football
games. Does anyone know how to tweak the picture on this thing to get
the most out of it? Thanks in advance.

Well, first the A2000 is LCoS, not LCD, but didn't you get a manual with it?
It should be all explained in there. Be aware that the bulb breaks in over
the first few hundred hours, so any settings you choose now will probably
need adjustment in a month or two.

Go check out avsforum.com and go read up on the tweaks and settings
thread posted by the owners of the very same TV you have. I have an
XBR2 and I follow the threads pertaning to my TV in that forum very
closely.

Try this to start:

Set the picture settings to "Custom".
Set the Iris to auto 2 or to Low.
Turn sharpness down to about 20.
Set brightness down so that you display full black on black borders or
objects.
Set color temperature to the warmest setting.
Turn on Gamma to a low to mid setting
Keep edge enhancement off
Keep the other enhancement settings off.

Let your eyes be your best judge for setting color level and Picture levels.
Note this set has a 2% overscan that cannot be adjusted out and a small red
and green push that cannot be adjusted out. Enjoy.

Richard.
