Since Christmas presents are meant to bring joy and happiness, I think it
would be most unwise to buy your son a Freeview box and an indoor aerial. If
you can't sort out an outside aerial before Christmas I suggest you get him
an appliance that works without one -- a hair drier or something.

My whimsical tone should not suggest to to you that my advice is flippant.

The link you provide points to an ebay search for Consumer electronicsTV
AccessoriesAerials.
How are we to know what product(s) you are looking at?

You may be the exception to the rule, but in general, indoor aerials
are unsatisfactory when receiving DTT.

Can we assume that your Sons is not the only TV in the house?
Is there an aerial, maybe in the loft, serving another set?

It would help if you gave more information about your location, the
direction of your serving transmitter, the direction that your son'e
room points, etc.

It is possible that you may not be in an area where DTTV will work
without a good rooftop aerial, or maybe even DTTV is not abailable in
your area.

Get that detail right and Bill will give you a definitive answer,
especially if you live anywhere near Rotherham!!

I would not wish to sort out aerials on Christmas Day :-(

Dave Fawthrop dave hyphenologist co uk Google Groups is IME the *worst*
method of accessing usenet. GG subscribers would be well advised get a
newsreader, say Agent, and a newsserver, say news.individual.net. These
will allow them: to see only *new* posts, a killfile, and other goodies.
