Hope this is the right forum for this query?
I've been using a Hauppauge PVR350 card to record old VHS tapes onto DVD, with no problems, using the on-board sound of my PC ( a 3GHz Pentium 4 with 1GB of memory). Because of an interest in software defined radio, I just installed an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card. Now when I record from VHS I get good video but absolutely lousy sound - seems to drop out reguarly in a way that suggests perhaps there's just not enough processor power for both sound and video. Anyone seen this problem and know of a fix? (short of a new PC!) -- Norman Billingham |

Anyone seen this problem and know of a fix? (short of a new PC!) The PVR350 does hardware encode of both Video and Audio, so you shouldn't be running out of horsepower with a P4 3GHz. I know of PIII 700MHz with a PVR350 & a PVR150 being used as a PVR, though not using any variant of Windows. ![]() The obvious one is check your connections, if you have moved stuff around to put in a new card, it's possible something has come loose. Check that the PVR350 is not sharing an interrupt and that your HDD is still using DMA and is properly defragmented. Bruce S. -- Replace the by by blueyonder |

Anyone seen this problem and know of a fix? (short of a new PC!) Dropping acceleration features of the video card may fix it, though you also could try unchecking options for 'enable write combining' or (for older PCI graphics hardware) disable 'Use automatic PCI bus retries'. You will find these settings in the graphics driver properties. This site may also be useful, though haven't tried the fixes myself. http://www.mark-knutson.com/t3/ -- Adrian C |

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I'll try it all out as soon as I get a bit of free time. |
