Is there a forum for sony SXRD TV KDS R60XBR2?
The immediate questions I have are (1) The TV is too bright, is it possible to lower the brightness of the light bulb so that it not only lower the brightness, but also extends the life of the bulb and saves energy? I think the brightness control dims the screen electronically without dimming the bulb. (2) How to reduce the hidden overscan area. I know there is a forum over at avsforum. However there are more pre-sales questions than technical how-tos. |

Maybe that would work. -- Bearman If it's got tits, tires, tubes, or transistors, it's trouble. |

There should be a XBR owners thread that gets past the buying questions and more into finetuning an already purchased set. |

As usual, RTFM.
But in my munificence, try the backlight control in the setup menu. You can also set it to auto, so it will vary depending on the ambient light. As far as a "hidden overscan area", you're trying to write like you know wtf you're doing, but you clearly don't. You need to play with the video mode, you must be in a zoom function. Once again, RTFM. It worked for me. Jesus, people who can spend multiple thousands of bucks on a TV and not be able to read or understand TFM. "Holy Crikey" wrote in message ... Overscan is built into these sets and is about 2% and cannot be adjusted
out. Yes, put the set in energy saver mode to reduce bulb output about 20%. It is in a menu. Turn the Iris to its fixed 1 (darkest position). Turn off edge enhancement. Turn gamma off or put it in the first setting. Lower brightness until you see real black. Turn down picture until you see information in bright white areas of a picture (this adjustment will take time to get right.) Set color temperature to the wormest setting. Keep sharpness down to avoid ringing (false lines). |
