If so, you need to put the card in to the new box (after connecting

up), do a software upgrade and then go into the installers menu
(Services -

box will
need to be conencted to a phone line when you do this.

Phone line is not possible - I'm not in the UK

Won't this already have been donw by the supplier store ?

I think Sky may refuse to pair the card to the box unless they've seen a
successful callback from the box. I'm not sure if the information sent to
Sky during a callback includes the viewing card details.

Only way to find out is to try it. Plug it all in, switch the cards
over and
phone them up.

You could try telling them you don't have a landline?

Yes, that's what I did - see other reply.

Would be interested in hearing the outcome.

Will advise when the box arrives.

Have now completed the install.

After connecting the box, everything worked (except Premium channels of
course) including the Record functions that the supplier thought might
take a few hours.

I called Sky to pair up the card and after a couple of glitches where I
was cutoff and then some hassle with the serial number (I think because
they were still using the version # of the old box), and a successful
software download, everything is now working fine.

Thanks again to everyone for help with the original problem and with the
install.

PS Sorry to follow up to self, but remote from old Sky+ box drives new
one OK, and also controls volume & mute on TV (panasonic).

New remote does not control sound on TV. Is there something I need to do
to set this up ???
