TV quiz shows which can charge viewers as much as 75p for phone calls even if they do not get through are a "lottery" not a test of skill, MPs have heard. The Commons culture committee was told some channels lured players with easy questions and big prizes, without stating only 0.5% of calls get through. Nick Rust, of Sky Bet, which is calling for stronger guidelines, said phone-in games should count as gambling. If they were reclassified, they would be "properly regulated", he told MPs. -- And with the well-oiled charm of a snake, he can easily work his way into Olive's heart. |

Yes, but they could still be paying listening to some prerecorded set of rules etc. Don't know wether that would be legal thought. Dave |

Think that is what they say in their 'small print', not that I spend much time looking at these channels though... |

What does anybody expect? They can only talk to one person at a time
and if each call lasted a minute that's only 60/hour compared with the 1000s of calls. |

If it's one of those 'quizzes' where the answer IS an easy and straight- forward one - which is reflected in the prize of about £50 instead of many thousands - you're lucky if they take a call within 30 minutes of putting it onscreen, all the while telling you "it's a great time to call". The people who ring up shouldn't be allowed to have a phone in the first place, let alone breathe, if they're that stupid. -- Dom Robinson Gamertag: DVDfever email: dom at dvdfever dot co dot uk /* http://DVDfever.co.uk (editor) /* 1120 DVDs, 341 games, 295 CDs, 110 cinema films, 36 concerts, videos & news /* canis canem edit, amy winehouse, london film festival passport to prague New music charts - http://dvdfever.co.uk/music.shtml DVDfever Youtube Channel - http://youtube.com/user/DVDfever |

....and do you truely believe that all the time the presenter is blabbing on
about whatever rubbish come to mind while 'waiting' for the phone to ring that no-one is actually calling... Apparently, if you do ring and don't get through, you get told that you haven't been successful this time, please call again... and get charged again, of course... wrote in message ups.com... People who get pulled into these channels must be either stupid or thick. We all know they are not what they seem and the chance of even getting though is very low. People are so pathetic. |
