Detune every channel on the tv. And I mean, DE-TUNE all channels. Remove any
cables. i.e. satelitte, cable tv, aerial.

Then no, you won't need a licence.

You only need a licence if you Quote; "watch or record broadcast
programmes".

Don't answer the door and make sure a TV can't be seen.

Then you have no *need* for a TV Licence, since the henious criminal offence
is virtually impossible to detect without the "offender's" cooperation.

Will you be watching TV from some other source such as satellite?
If so, you will still need a licence.

Not necessarily.

If you were to let a TVL blokey in and he checked your tv, and you haven't
detuned it, sometimes you can still pick up a slight signal. TVL nazi
storm-trooper will then say, "you are able to receive tv broadcast
programmes" and you will be busted.

I have mine detuned to some european standard with secam on all 99 channels
on my TV. I simply use my TV for XBox and Xbox Media Centre.#

What would you be picking up a signal from, if they had stopped
transmitting?
