....what would you buy?

I have that in coupons to spend on a home theatre setup. I need the
receiver, speakers and a 50" flat screen. No DLP, it has to hang on a
wall. I know I'm paying more at BB, but I'm kinda locked in. So, how
would you spend my money?

Spend it on anything. Don't open any boxes.
Take it all back and get a cash refund.
Then go elsewhere to shop.

Hmmm, not a bad idea, but I have a feeling they will only give a
merchandise credit for these coupons...

Anyway if I can't what looks good there?

Can I use the money at Magnolia Hi-Fi instead? If so I'd get a
Martin-Logan sub (Decent) and maybe a couple surround speakers.

Comon folks, let's stay focused here. We can't use the money overseas,
we can't use it online, we can't use it anywhere but Best Buy...;+}

How about some suggestions?

OK, being realistic:

1. Samsung SHPS 5053 Plasma
2. Yamaha or Onkyo receiver and DVD recorder
3. Get separate speakers from a good manufacturer, such as Polk.
4. Get good speaker wires and good cables for the hookup

For the HD TV, the Pioneer 50" 5071 which is currently selling for
$3149 at BB. BTW, the 5071 is Best Buy model number, other than some
mounting hardware (I think), same as the 5070 models sold elsewhere. If
you need to set aside more money for the sound system, then get the
Panasonic TH-50PX60U which is currently on sale for around $2400, IIRC.
The general consensus among the video system buffs is that the Pioneer
5070/5071 is slightly better than the Panasonic 50PX60U, but these are
the 2 best plasmas in the under 4 grand price range.

For the receiver and speakers, I have not kept up on that stuff. But
$350 to $400 should get you a decent receiver. Speakers are always hard
to recommend and even harder to figure out what is good enough for
someone else.

Magnolia Hi-Fi is part of Best Buy now. They're even located in some
Best Buys.
