"Adrian B" If you don't have specific DVD playback software, you may not have an MPEG2 codec installed, which you will need. Will the PC play other DVDs? The PC will not play any other DVD's. Trying the latest version of Windows Media Player. Coputer came with Sony Sonicstage. The computer is a Sony Vaio PCV-V1/G. Also, my domestic DVD recorder (Pioneer) can write DVDs in two formats, Video and VR modes. The former is compatible with other DVD players, the latter is not. I have tried to finalise in both format V as well as VR.. but no difference. Yaz |

Try installing the file from he http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...EG_2_Codec.htm Media Player should then play DVDs including tour DVD-RW. Adrian |

Yaz It certainly makes sense to get the PC playing "regular" DVDs first. And I think the PCV-V1/G should have come with a DVD player - WinDVD - as part of its software package. (I used one some months ago which did; and the Sony software manual refers to it.) Do you still have a shortcut for WinDVD in your Start menu and/or on your desktop? If so, have you tried playing a DVD with that? -- Robin |

Yaz Why not simply download VLC Media Player. It's freeware, and one of the best. It will play almost anything, including DVDs. http://www.download-zone-free.com/vlcplayer/ Ian. -- |
