How can I trasfer a short film to my computer. I am unable to play the DVD
on my computer but it plays on the DVD player it was originally recorded on.

On the DVD recorder which you originally recorded with, is there an
option on the menu to "close" or "finalise" the disc?

I have finalised the disc. But it still will not play on my PC.

What software are you using on your PC to play the DVD, and, what type is
the DVD player on your PC?

There seem to be lots of problems with that particular drive. Just do a
Google on "Mat****a UJ-810" and you'll see what I mean.
Have you installed the latest firmware?

If you don't have specific DVD playback software, you may not have an MPEG2
codec installed, which you will need. Will the PC play other DVDs?

Also, my domestic DVD recorder (Pioneer) can write DVDs in two formats,
Video and VR modes. The former is compatible with other DVD players, the
latter is not.
