Default Overscanning in dlp sets airing HD material

Some TVs are way overscanned. I had the same problem on my set. I found out
how to get into service mode and found out how badly they off centered and
overscanned the picture. Looks lots better now.

On my otherwise ably performing HD dlp tv the HD logo that ABC shows in
the bottom right of the screen during football games is partly cut off at
the bottom, indicating what I interpret to be the dlp equivalent of
overscanning.
Why would this be the case for DLP in particular where pixels are
presumably mapped to the DLP chip?

In a DLP set, the 'overscan' is a mechanical (optical) 'adjustment',
not electrical. I have the service manual for our 50" Samsung DLP but
find nothing besides optical focus and image tilt.

As for logo off the bottom, is that true for all the stations? The
networks all put a bug in the bottom, usually right side though Leno's
is now on the left side. The TV doesn't know anything except 1080 or
720. I'm wondering if you're in one of the locations where they're
cross-converting the 720 into 1080 and perhaps they're sending out that
way to everyone. Don't laugh, its been known to happen.
