Can anyone tell me how good the spec of this TV looks to those of you who
understand these things - I know there is no price yet however maybe u could
suggest what price would be fair for this TV.

Cheaper than the similar LG and Hyundai models so around £499.

LOL, not at this price!
The resolution is fine and pretty standard at this price level. I agree it
should be around £499 or less. I have seen the similar Medion one and it
wasn't bad for the money, usual LCD caveats aside. These cheap brands do
tend to have a higher failure rate though.

Not necessarily. They're often re-badged models from fairly decent
manufacturers. For example, I have an LCD TV made by 'Lexsor' that uses a
Samsung panel - supermarket TV's often do source their electricals from
fairly decent manufacturers. If you were to hear the brand Lexsor mentioned,
I presume they'd fall into your "high failure rate" bracket? ASDA, for
example, are particularly well known to not sell ****. The CRT's they used
to sell were re-badged Toshibas too.

To the OP: That resolution is not bad at all. The resolution that was
suggested to you is at the high-end of the market, so Christ alone knows why
that was suggested to you when you are clearly aiming to shop with a budget.
My own TV has that same resolution and it is excellent for the sub £500
bracket. This group is perhaps not the best place to ask, as you will (and
have) get the usual elitists telling you to go out and spend far more than
you want or need to.

Can't see the point in a widescreen TV without FreeView tuner.

Some of the analogue broadcast are in letter box format with the wide
screen switching signal active so they will switch to wide screen.
Another point is that the user might only use cable or a satellite
service, or even only DVD. Not that a Freeview tuner should add much to
the cost.

I can't see the point in an LCD T.V at the moment,
People buy HDTV, but a lot will no doubt ever use them in HD mode.

Anyway a Freeview box is cheap to buy now.
