On my otherwise ably performing HD dlp tv the HD logo that ABC shows in the
bottom right of the screen during football games is partly cut off at the
bottom, indicating what I interpret to be the dlp equivalent of
overscanning.
Why would this be the case for DLP in particular where pixels are presumably
mapped to the DLP chip?

Are you sure you don't have the TV on "zoom" mode? Check that. Or if
you have an STB, they usually have their own "zoom" option.

Just out of curiousity, which game are you referring to? Because the
game last night ( forgot which teams) I noticed was not in HD.

I agree, I believe that he has a "zoom" type feature enabled. Go thru your
owners manual and find out about picture sizes. It also can be done on some
cable boxes if you're using one.

AS far as Mikepier stated on the football thing. My local CBS station here
in San Diego NEVER shaow the Charger games in HD. Only if they're on another
station do I get to see my Chargers in HD.

Here's a big THUMBS DOWN for CBS in San Diego

Depends on the market and the matchup. Yeah it sucks. the Giants were
on CBS facing the Texans and that was not in HD either. NY is the
biggest market, but the Texans are not, so we got regular standard def.
If the Chargers are on Fox or ESPN, or NBC, then you luck out.

I don't get CBS or Fox HD so I'm glad the Sunday and Monday night
games are on ESPN and NBC. The bad part is that there is no change in
sight for FOX. Our local Fox affiliate is a real low-power station
owned by the same folks that have the NBC affiliate, and they are
giving no indications that they will ever go HD. I'm just hoping the
local CBS station gets on board before the SuperBowl!!

You'll be glad to know that the Chargers/Broncos game on 11/19 was
moved to Sun night on NBC thanks to the new flex scheduling format of
the NFL.

Also the game against Cincy this Sun will be in HD. So you have 2 weeks
in a row. Enjoy, because it looks like the best chance after these 2
games is in Dec when they play Denver, KC and Seattle.

UPDATE: the OAK/SD game in week 12 will be in HD. I did not expect this
given the way OAK played Monday night.

So you have 3 weeks in a row that San Diego will be in HD. ENJOY!
