If it's anything like the CRTs there is a button on the remote to turn off
the channel indicator, have a look in the manual - be warned it doesn't turn
it off straight away, there is usually a delay of a couple of seconds.

The button on my 32" CRT Panny is a TV shape with a + on the right, inside
it.

That's the fella - traded my 32" Panny for a 50" Sagem, so couldn't remember
the exact logo

I recently bought an LG 50-inch plasma and wonder how these big sets
compare. One reason for opting for the LG is the SD card slot which
isn't,
as you might reasonably suppose, a nice, accessible slot in the fascia.

Sounds like the card reader on my Sagem - a PCMCIA card under the screen,
towards the rear! If they'd tried, they couldn't have made it any more
inaccessible!

Was it designed by a woman?

My wife says it can't possibly have been - if it had, it would have been
perfect
