Default PUBLIC BEING MIS-SOLD HD

i got hold of a BD -p1000 to test yesterday.
i have a sony 32" 's' series bravia HD READY lcd tv.
i have been into al things HD now for 12 months and was waiting with
baited breath to get my first fix of HD.

WHAT A LET DOWN.

picture quality was better than SD dont get me wrong, it was sharper,
cleaner and crisp but £999.99 better? NO SODDING
WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have today been posting on avs forum and most people are saying "no
wonder your not happy with HD, your tv is too small!!!!!!!!"

now, i can see that a 60"+ screen might have more 'impact' but who has
room for a tv that size.
also, think of all those poor sods who have bought 32" £1k+ tv's who
will be SERIOUSLY ****ED OFF WITH THIS NEW REVOLUTION' ( i won my 32"
bravia) thank god.

NEW REVOLUTION MY ARSE.

anyone who has not yet bought BD or HD DVD, dont bother, its 'dvd, but
slightly sharper'

12 months waiting for HD, i expected my mates to come round my house
and say " HOLY ****, I TAKE IT THAT IS HD, ITS AMAZING!"
in actual fact my mate said........
nothing, he didnt even notice that it was any different until i said "
mate, check the tv, THATS HD"
He said " uh, i thought by the way you were going on about it, it would
be amazing, i didnt even notice"

THANKS, RANT OVER
****a very dissapointed bloke******

Are you sure that you were getting an actual HD program, and not an SD
program over HD. Big difference. Even with the small 19" monitors I use in
the bedrooms, HD blows SD away. And it's not hard to tell the difference.
Isn't S.W.A.T an older show? Was it ever recorded in HD?

Christ man, that show is from the 70's. It's not HD.

70's show, but 9/19/2006 Bluray release. SD counterpart was released in 2k3.

To respond to the original poster, yes, the larger the screen, the more
dramatic the difference between SD and HD. Having said that, you should
realize the following:

a.) you're an early adopter which means you'll pay more for potentially a
work in progress
b.) you have no idea how much or how little time and attention to detail the
studio may have invested in the Blu-ray transfer of S.W.A.T.
c.) your BD-P1000 had a firmware update a couple of weeks ago. Did you
update your player?
d.) the native resolution of a 32" Bravia is 1366 x 768. 1080P is 1920 x
1080.

You may very well have a legitimate reason to be underwhelmed, but I just
don't believe it's as cut and dry as your original post. fwiw...

There is a SWAT Blu-Ray DVD.

Read the S&V Mag review of the player:

http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...1&print_page=y

See the bottom line paragraph.

You want real HD, then you need an OTA, cable or sat source. I have OTA
and it really does look a hell of a lot better, especially for sports.

Forget DVDs until the format war is over.

Just my 2 cents. whosbest54

I notice you used the "Pounds Sterling" symbol
for the pricing point in your posting. Are you in the UK? I am not sure
that the Euro version of HD is as quite as good as the US version. It
also explains probably why you are watching 30+ year old remastered US
originated shows.

basically you have discovered the truth of HD - if you are not
watching it on a 50 or more inch screen it means squat - the human eye
can not resolve the difference.

Well yes, he is probably a member of JQP, does not and really has no
reason to know, all the differences, because if he does not have the
room and money for a TV bigger than 50 inches, he does not need HD -
the setup he has is a great choice for him.

You have a HD capable 19 inch monitor,,?? Please name the brand, and
the drugs that you take when you think you can resolve the difference
between HD and SD on such a set up.

so how is living on all that "interest" you "earned" on all that money
you"paid" into SS going,,,?

and that Health Insurance payment,,how is that 2 grand a month going,
should be no problem paying that on all that interest ?
