I'm finally upgrading to HDTV. Looking for suggestions on buying HDMI
cable. Is brand an important factor? Where's a good place to buy the cables? So there are different standards of HDMI. Are these standards independent from the devices such as DVD player or satellite receiver? Meaning does any HDMI output support all HDMI cable standards or are these standards built into the HDMI outputs as well? Thanks in advaance. |

Don't worry about brand names, it really doesn't matter. www.monoprice.com and www.svideo.com Chip -- -------------------- http://NewsReader.Com/ -------------------- Usenet Newsgroup Service $9.95/Month 30GB |

From I all read and found out about this, HDMI is a digital cable, which sends data in 0's and 1's. So, like an ethernet cable it doesn't matter how is it as long as its good cable without any breakage. As for branded products, I cannot stress this enough. Dont waste money on them. That was exactly what I read, and I ended up buying this model for about $6: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002L5R78 I got it, saw that it looks like a nice sturdy cable (no shoddy workmanship on the ends or anything), hooked it up and it looks great to me. I picked it because it had a lot of good reviews, and because I didn't want to enter my credit card at another store if I could just go through good old, familiar Amazon. Read the reviews. I too have heard nothing but good stuff about Monoprice.com, but I swear, on the day I went there, every single 6-foot HDMI cable was out of stock! |
