Looking to upgrade my old Hauppauge Nova-t PCI (model 909) to a much better
card. I've not been following the progression of the market though, and have no idea who makes the best cards today, with best support (EPG etc). All I know is Hauppauge don't seem to make a real effort with their stuff, and would like a move away from their products. I want a dual DVB-t tuner specifically. Doesn't have to be a PCI card though, a USB 'dongle' would be fine. I've also heard Pinnacle make the best ones these days....is that right? Thanks. |

I have one running alongside the newer Nova-T (90002), forming a great, reliable twin-tuner PVR system. If it's just the software you don't like, ITYF that most DVB cards come with really crap software (most people seem to recommend the Nebula for this, and there was even someone on here complaining about that recently). The solution is to uninstall that software and the Hauppauge drivers, get the BDA drivers (the 909's can be found at technotrend.de ISTR), then install some better PVR software that can handle EPGs, managing simultaneous recordings amongst multiple tuners etc. Check out team-mediaportal.com and gbpvr.com for starters. They have worked hard on getting either PCI or USB "master" units to work with their USB "slave" tuners. You basically need a tuner for each mux that you want to record from simulataneously. The software can already display and/or record multiple channels on the same mux. : If it's just the software you don't like, ITYF that most DVB cards come : with really crap software (most people seem to recommend the Nebula for : this, and there was even someone on here complaining about that : recently). The Nebula software is excellent. There was a new release just last week which has made it even better. |

TTB The Nebula is a lot more stable than most and has very good pvr software. The BDA drivers for any card/unit work with the nebula app but you need a to buy a licence to watch for more than 2 minutes (£30 for one device, £40 for two, more £ for more devices to work). This is even if you are using a nebula card with their BDA drivers :-( |
