tax payers money to.

I'don't guive a **** where they get MY money from. it's MY money.

No it is the taxpayers money. They will decide how much to give you when
and if. How many votes do you have? That is how much you count in the
decision. It is and was and will be a political ponzi scheme. There is no
money of yours sitting somewhere collecting interest. Congress at the whim
of the voters can change any part of it they want. Not true of an
insurance policy. In that case they would have to change the rules of
incorporation and commerce. Not so with SS. ALL they have to do is have a
VOTE on any given day and your SS is history.

So far the ponzi scheme has worked. Early participants are making out like
bandits. They had lots of kids and are outliving all the planning factors.
They are getting LOTS of taxpayer money that has NOTHING to do with what
they put in the pot.

Later generations will not be so lucky. They will put in a lot an get back
whatever. They may be unhappy and decide they don't like the scheme
anymore. Bye bye your SS.

There are lots of ways to erode, erase and diminish SS and there are lots
of folks already working on a lot of such new schemes. You may not even
notice.

Bob Miller

Your SS check comes directly out of the pocket of
someone working - that's the definition of living off the tax payer.

That's BS. I don't care where the money comes from. I paid for over 40
years for retirement insurance (SS). So I'm not living off any taxpayer
(when I sign up for it). When you pay 30 years for a house and get it
paid
off do you plan on turning around and then giving your house to the
government? Same thing. I paid for my retirement over those 40 years and
now I want what was promised. Or, I'd settle for a lump sum of what I put
in plus interest. And as far as I know, the money paid out comes from
current SS payments, not other taxes. SS is not a tax. It's an Insurance
policy. My has matured and I now want what's rightfully mine, namely the
benefits I've paid for for over 40 years.

When you start taking your SS you will get on average 3 dollars back
for every one you put in

That's just BS. I know what I've paid in and i know what I'm getting back
each month. What i will get back and only til I die, will be no more than
what the interest would be on the amount paid in over those 40 years. In
fact, it won't even be that much. And don't worry too much about it. I
won't live long enough to draw much. So now go get ****ed you stupid sob.

- when that person 30 years younger who is
paying that to you retires, he is going to get nothing back, despite
having paid FICA taxes at a rate 10 times higher than you did.

Then I suggest you change your voting habits.

You "take" tax money every time you drive down a street, turn on a
light, flush your toilet, log onto the internet, and are allowed to
babble incoherently as is your constitutional right (defended by tax
money) to do so.

I think you have that backwards. I pay tax money (and a lot of it) every
time I drive down the street. In the late 60's state and federal taxes on
a gallon of gas was a nickel. Yep, only 5 cents. What do you think it is
now? About 50 cents I think. Same goes for everything else you mention.
You're an idiot.
Just like there is no right to free OTA HD TV, likewise there is no
"my money back" SS checks.

So when I deposit the checks into my bank account, who's money do you
think it will be? :-)

You seem to be forgetting a little thing call "DEATH" in your presumptions.

MOST of us that have payed for the past 50+ years will be DEAD so we will
NEVER collect what we put in. Only the lucky few that actually LIVE long
enough will collect it.
Our Government knows this and THAT is part of the problem.

And if we live long enough and actually do use the money that younger
generations are putting into the system now, it will be for two reasons.

1)That is the WAY THEY DESIGNED it (Gasp!) to work. So stop your whining.

2)Most likely this will occur because our Government ****ed up and used most
of the money on other **** that has nothing to do with SS. Not because we
did not put enough in during OUR lifetimes, so get a grasp on reality here
OK.

I swear, you people act like this is some kind of conspiracy against you.

The only REAL conspiracy is what OUR GOVERNMENT is doing with OUR money
RIGHT NOW that is not related to our SS. So your preaching to the God Damn
Quire.

I realize its not a TAX

But I'm like Wes in that I've paid into the system for
30+ years now and I want it to fulfil it's obligation
to me when my time comes.

Yes, cable systems are very expensive to build and maintain. Wireless
broadband is far less so and the bandwidth is almost infinite.

Very interesting!

Thanks for educating me....and I agree with your
scenario

I have been paying into it for almost as long. My other posts have made it
clear that I want what's mine same as you.

This is why I supported privatization and hope it comes up again.

Nope,,,

problem is you are not dying fast enough,,,

the 65 age assumed that 80 percent would either not live that long, or
would die soon after.
