Default Newbie question about resolution

I'm considering a new plasma TV, a Pioneer PDP 5070hd.
Pioneer says the resolution on this set is: "High Definition WXGA
Resolution (1,365 x 768) Ability to Accept a 1080p/24Hz Signal"
How important is it to have the higher 1080 resolution? Is this
something I am going to be able to see when viewing movies and hd shows
from about 12 feet away?
On another site this same set is said to have: "New 1080p scanning
Progressive Scan (instead of interlaced)"
http://www.plasmatv.com/PDP-5070HDpage.html
I'm confused.

Your viewing experience is basically determined by the number of pixels. Of
course the quality of the input is important too, but a decent 1080i digital
feed without too much compression will pretty well maximize the quality of
this set's image. You would not likely see much improvement from 1080p input
(even if you could find some), especially from that far away. If this is the
set you want, go for it.

There's what is broadcast, and what you see. What you will see with that
set is 720p since that's the limit of the resolution of that set. All
higher content broadcast will be downconverted to the native resolution of
the set, which in this case you state is 1365x768. You will not notice a
better picture than that no matter what they broacast. If you want better,
you'need to buy a set with native 1080 resolution (1920x1080 pixels). Will
you notice the difference from 12 feet away? maybe, maybe not. Depends on
the size of the screen and how good your eyesight is. At least you will be
able to see a 1080p broadcast image when/if they broadcast one. There are
sets with native 1080p resolutions (1920x1080 non-interlaced), but today
most HD sets are native 720p as this one is.
