Sounds good Kenneth. I can't find my manual. Could you guide me a
little? You do have the VR-507 right?

I will note that the ONLY instance of DVD-A players that I can recall
seeing have been in Acura automobiles and SUVs. Not that home players
don't have DVD-A, I just have not seen any of them in stores, nor have I
been looking for them.

Well duh. If you don't look for something, you probably won't see it.

If you *were* to become interested in hi-rez audio, you'd undoubtedly be
surprised to learn that many of the players you've seen in stores are in
fact DVD-A capable.

Yeah I don't think Robert's much of an audio guy. He strikes me as somebody
who just wants to watch TV and would buy Bose speakers or something
similar...just something to listen to with no real concern for quality. It
gets the job done and he does not really care to step up to the next level.
I mean that's fine, but he shouldn't be discussing things like DVD-A and
SACD as he is clearly ignorant on the subjet.

I'm not cutting you down Robert, I'm just stating what I've read. If I'm
wrong, by all means let me know. You might have a $20,000 speaker system for
all I know..but I doubt it

Ok I found the center width adjustment. Have you tried any different
speakers with your Kenwood system? I'm thinking about replacing the
four smaller speakers. Might try some BestBuy Insignias. 4 for about
$100 and I've read they're quite decent.

I'm still playing around with the adjustments. Seems to sound best with
circle surround.

Well Ken I'm stunned. I was playing with the settings in my Kenwood
VR-507 receiver and I think I found what you're saying. I was about to
give up on this receiver, but today I found a very sweet spot. It
sounds SOOOOO much better now. I think I'll just use it instead of
buying a stereo receiver. The music comes through the 2 front and the
center speaker, along with the sub. Man am I happy! I didn't think it
was possible but WOW! Now I will add two different speakers and should
be all set for some good listening. The sound is crisp and powerful!
Thanks for your suggestions. It sounds so good I can barely believe it
: ) It's the best sounding music I've ever had in my home. Finally I
can REALLY enjoy music.

I have the Kenwood HTB-504 system. It sounds quite good IMO even for
music. Most of the sound comes from the center speaker and sub. They
are quite good but the others sound poor (weak) even when turned up.
How can I improve my system for music listening? I only use it for
music anyway. Should I add some new speakers maybe? Music seems to
sound best in Circle Surround mode. Is this normal or do I need to make
some changes? Nearly all the sound comes from the sub and center.
Stereo modes do not sound good. Can I make this system better?
Different speakers? Any help appreciated.

Bill
