Hello
Is the output from the Humax 9200 in digital format or analogue?
Will it work on HD TV when programs commence.

It's a SCART output for the video (Standard CVBS , S-Video or RGB settings).

It won't work with HDTV, but they haven't decided on:

1) The standard for Terrestrial HDTV or
2) Whether the broadcasters are actually going to fork out for terrestrial
HDTV bandwidth

yet, so you won't be able to buy such a beast for a while anyway.

I thought there was only frequence available for London and not for the rest
of us.

I thought the future was satellite, broadband internet or cable.

There's two frequencies being used in London for terrestrial HD tests, UHF
Ch 31 for the BBC, UHF Ch 27 for ITV/4/5.

Two UHF allocations per main transmitter, and major relays, have been
allocated for nationwide use in this year's ITU-RCC conference. They lie in
the two 'to be auctioned off(maybe)' portions of the UHF band. Chs 31-39
(excl 36, 38) and 63-68. *If* it is decided to have HD DTT, they are the
most likely home for services, however nothing has been decided yet. It
might be more sub-SD quiz show ****e instead, or even non-broadcast
applications.

I thought the future was satellite, broadband internet or cable.

Who knows :-)

This, London only thing, is a test broadcast. Once the analogue sevices
have been turned off, there could be frequencies for other parts of the
country.

Not for the HD broadcasts, but Humax do have an HD PVR for DTT
(Hi-Duovision) which is used for the HD DTT trials in London and is in their
latest literature. Don't know if it is commercially available yet.

HDTV ...the new Sky con.....crap is crap whether it is high definition or
low definition ..and notice how the retail sheds are trying to kill off the
VCR and the cathode ray tube television.

HDTV can arrive for me when the programmes start to get better....

But things do get better for those of us who shop with the Third World
......a 28" widescreen TV for £159 ?...Onn @ ASDA.The 28" Philips I have is
just 4 years old ..OK Pixel Plus and Dolby 5:1 built in but at nearly £1300
when bought and now really obsolete.

The best joke is Sony..... while it wants the only Freeview box it sells to
be a Freeview equipped DVD Recorder with 160Gb HDD @ £500 (BIG,BIG margin!)
,it decides that it "must have" a presence at the lower end so it gets
Vestel to make up a Sony badged version of its very flakey PVR FRT200 and
flog it in the sheds at between £229 to £199....at same time Sony kills off
the best Freeview box there's been - BUT made in Wales so big labour cost
and small margin.

Humax have shown how the "big" names trade on a bygone reputation and that
quality and better operability can be had for much much less.(at Martin
Dawes on-line!)

As to a PVR I am waiting to see what the Freeview replay comes up with as a
standard at a reasonable price and that means Spring 2007 when the post
Christmas discounting starts and the sheds have to start unloading all those
unsold Hitachis,Sharps,Sony etc......

The medium is the message.....
