We have a new Panasonic LCD TV : TX-32LXD60 with 2 scart sockets
Old Analogue Panasonic VCR with 1 scart socket New DVD recorder Liteon-5115 GHC with 2 scart sockets The VCR is linked by scart to the DVD, the aerial input is in to the DVD, the output linked to the TV. The VCR scart socket is AV1 We record our old VHS tapes to DVD which works fine, We can record TV to DVD ok and watch another channel at the same time, so that's good. The problem is that we can't record on the VCR from the TV successfully as on playback there is just lines going across although we can play VHS tapes My husband is baffled by this, can anyone please help ? |

It sounds as if the VCR isn't connected to the aerial. The aerial feed need to go -- VCR -- DVD -- TV, or --DVD -- VCR -- TV. (It shouldn't make much difference which.) -- Max Demian |

If you are trying to record digital channels from the TV's own tuner, using the AV output via the DVD, this won't work as the DVD SCARTs are one-way (out to TV, in from VCR). You would need to connect the VCR AV1 direct to the TV second SCART (AV2) to be able to record from the TV. You would still need an aerial connection from VCR to DVD to do the transfers (VCRDVDTV). This might even make it possible to record DVDs from a TV digital channel - TV tuner to AV2, VCR selecting AV1, DVD tuned to the VCR output channel. However, for digital channel recording, it may be better to leave the VCR SCART off, using its aerial connections only, and wiring the DVD input to the TV's AV2. |
