wrote: Was I having a stroke on Monday night, or was the MNF HD broadcast a disaster? The picture kept switching from a "normal" HD broadcast to a blurry mess whenever the HD SkyCam was used, and randomly throughout normal camera transitions. Not only was the game blurry, but - and this I just don't understand - the GRAPHICS were blurry too. I was watching OTA, so I called a friend with Comcast in HD, and he said he was seeing the same thing - on both the local affiliate (6 ABC) *and* on ESPNHD. Did anyone else see this? What caused this? Bad truck? ~ Zymer Here's a thread talking about this ONGOING ABC problem on AVSforum: http://archive.avsforum.com/avs-vb/s...0&pagenumber=1 An quote from 2004: ABC sent information to all affiliates yesterday asking those that had Harris flexicoder HD compressors to make a setting change to eliminate the going out of focus problem. ABC is saying that the problem only happened in markets where the station was using a flexicoder. We have made the requested change at KXTV Sacramento and have not had the focus problem in game 2. You're not going to believe this, but I just got a message from ABC telling us (with our Harris Flexicoder) to change the prefilter setting from "0" to "2". The folks over there found that the buffers in the unit were overflowing and it essentially gets lost trying to find a good setting. 6ABC uses this Harris Flexicoder, so it looks like this is absolutely the problem. |

YO Larry.
ABC & ESPN are part of the same network. "Larry Bud" wrote in message oups.com... wrote: Was I having a stroke on Monday night, or was the MNF HD broadcast a disaster? Clearly you were having a stroke, since MNF is not broadcast on ABC anymore, so how your friend was seeing the "same thing" on ABC is beyond me. |

I was watching it on ESPN here in NY with Cablevision and I thought it looked great. Maybe it was a local problem? Same here- watching on ESPN also - picture looked great sky cam shots and all. Jim |

A similiar situation happened here in NY with the Yankee game last night. It was on ESPN but also on My9. It was HD on ESPN, but My9 broadcasted the game in SD, even though it is a 720P channel. Why they did that I don't know. |
