Hi All, I am having problems with 3 channels with Comcast's Digital
Plus package. The channels are 162 (G4 Tv), 234 (Fox Wide Sports), and 235 (WPIX). I am located in Central NJ using a Sony KDS R60XBR1 with the older Motorola Cable Slot Card (newer ones do not work in this Sony). In the morning I never have a signal problem. Later on in the evening these 3 channels start to flicker with disturbances. I see mosaic patterns and it gets worst as time passes. My Sony's diagnostic menu function shows hundreds of errors on the error count statistic. The sound degrades and gets choppy. It is only these 3 channels and it is very frustrating since I like to watch the baseball playoffs and World Series in HD and Fox Wide Sports is carrying the games. I called Comcast as I lost the signal in the Yankee's game#1 Tuesday night (Oct 3) and they told me I was the only person calling in with a problem. All other channels come in with outstanding quality and consistency. Does anyone have any feedback as to what can be causing this? I greatly appreciate your feedback.. Joe |

In 90% percent of these cases that have been isolated to one user only (this
assumes U believe Comcast person), the problem is with connectors, either in the house or between the house and the pedestal. wrote in message oups.com... Joe,
I don't have an answer to your question. But are you aware that there is a Comcast specific ng which might be better able to help you? It's at: alt.online-service.comcast -=tom=- wrote: Hi All, I am having problems with 3 channels with Comcast's Digital Plus package. Joe, I have the same problem in South Jersey with the Comcast Digital
channels, not HD though. They do a truck roll about every six months and replace the inside and outside connectors. Seems to work okay for about another six months or so. I know the Comcast tech by name now, who says I'm too picky. But for the price Comcast charges for cable TV, yeah I'm picky! Seems funny that in the A.M., when there is little Comcast cable modem or TV use in my neighborhood, there are no problems. But after school and dinner time, when there is much more cable modem and TV use the Digital TV channels tend to pixilate, stutter, drop sound, etc. I have heard that the cable modems share the bandwidth and more use lowers connection speeds. I wonder if it has the same effect on the Digital TV channels too? I'm sure someone here will let us both know if that has any truth to it. Pat wrote in message oups.com... Joe You might want to do this: The cable coming in off the pole goes into a grounding block on the side of your house. Undo the F connectors on both sides of the grounding block, and clean off the cable, and threads on the grounding block. If the center conductor sticking out of the F connector is black, or any color other than copper, cut off a few inches of the cable, and crimp on a new F connector. If it is really bad, replace the grounding block also; about $3 at Radio Shack. Mine was black, and so bad the cable modem wouldn't connect. Tam |
