Any reason none of the Sharp LCD's have Picture-in-picture?


PIP requires 2 tuners.

As many sets today have three tuners [NTSC, ATSC, QAM],
continuing to provide PIP is probably more of an engineering
and cost headache than the companies wanted to tackle.

Taking it to the ridiculous extreme, to provide PIP capability
using any combination of tuners would require SIX tuners
[2 x NTSC, 2 x ATSC, 2 x QAM].
Or four, if they decided to forego NTSC now instead of later.

The companies cost/benefit analysts probably decided that not
enough people would want AND be willing to pay for this feature.

I wouldn't blame them IF that was indeed the case.
[I have PIP on my 32" JVC analog set, and I rarely use the feature].

Come to think of it, I haven't noticed PIP on any new set recently
when I've browsed the new sets in the stores.
