Default sony sxrd 1080p drawbacks ?

Thinking of buying a sony sxrd 1080p .. but wondering what the
drawbacks are ?

I saw the other day a samsung dlp vs a plasma and the plasma looked
brighter and you could see shades of black better in the plasma. Do
you think Sony sxrd has these problems compared to plasma ?

One drawback of the plasma though was that there was definited glare
from window light. Do you think sxrd with lcd screen will not have
much of this. I have a smaller sony aquos lcd in my kitchen and it
appears to have barely any glare.

I just bought an aquos and found out that new generation 37" and up
aquos sets are made by Sharp at their plant, but smaller ones are
outsorced but still sold under the Sharp name.

That was mentioned somewhere in the AVSforum and a local technician
confirmed it.

This was the post from AVSforum I was referring to:

Some people have been complaining on why some of the new 2006 Sharp
LCD TVs have taken a step down in picture quality. After a visit from
Best Buy today, I gathered all the manufacturing info of these TVs by
looking at the specification sticker and looking through the
ventilation holes in each of the TVs. I have over five years of
experience knowing who makes what on electronics, and I stand behind
my facts 200% completely.

Beginning with the new 2006 models, it has come to my attention that
not all Sharp LCD TVs are made by Sharp. All Sharp LCD TVs sized 20"
and under (except LC-15S5U, LC-20S5U and LC-20D30U) are made by Funai
in China. All Sharp LCD TVs sized 26" are made by Orion in Thailand.
Some of the 32" models are made by Orion (LC-26SH20U, LC-26D40U,
LC-32SH20U, and LC-32D40U). If you have never heard of Funai before,
this is an OEM company that currently manufactures products under the
low-cost Emerson, some Magnavox, Sylvania, and Symphonic brands. If
you have never heard of Orion before, this is an OEM company that
currently produces products under the low-cost Broksonic, Durabrand,
some Insignia and iLO, Memorex, Orion, and Sansui brands. Orion also
makes at least 50% of the TV models by Toshiba. All of these brands
can be found in discount retailers.

On the other hand, all Sharp LCD TVs sized 37" and larger (LC-37D40U,
LC-37D90U, LC-57D90U, and LC-65D90U) are made by Sharp. Some of the
32" models are made by Sharp (LC-32D41U and LC-32D50U). If you want a
real, genuine Sharp LCD TV with Sharp's famous reliability and picture
quality, you must look at one of these six models.

The LCD screen panels are either made by Sharp or one of the
Chinese/Taiwanese LCD makers. I do not know what panel screen it uses
for each model, but I do know that all of the 37" and larger ones come
with Sharp-made LCD screens. Because Funai and Orion are responsible
for making the electronic components, picture quality may be affected.
I strongly recommend that you see a display of it in stores before you
purchase one.

Thanks for reading.

Go to avsforum.com and look around for answers. Sony XBR1 does not support
1080p.

Sony XBR1 does not support
1080p.

But XBR2 and the new A2000 do. From what I've seen at the local stores SXRD
is the winner and worth the premium.
