Don't like the shade of blue though. The old computerised blue and gold
see-through globe from the 80's and the smoky globe from the 90's were by
far the best.

Yes, no doubt at all, the BBC do know how to spend the licence payers

I don't wish to get all ranty on the subject, but considering some idents
are on up to 40 times a day and they're around for 4 or 5 years, I'm
really fed up with all the comments in various media sources complaining
how much one ident costs to make and how they could be spending the money
better blah blah blah..........
At least they getting rid of those f**king awful PC dancers and stuff.
Bring back the balloon!!!!!!!!!

Most of the new ones look equally as horrid.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/5381642.stm

The surfing one looks all right apart from the sickening shade of blue. Next
comes an ugly hippopotamus followed by some kites on a dreary day, then some
horrid cyclists, and after that kids playing ring a roses, then the BBC
wastes our money by going all the way to Croatia so that some idiots in
fishing boats can assemble the moon in pieces in the dark. There's also 22
footballers playing with their balls, and finally a horrid block of council
flats.

Total CRAP. After a week anyone still watching BBC1 will be puking at the
sight of these indents

Bring back the neutral 1980's globe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dead link

Cut and paste it into your browser. Some newsgroup reader programs
don't like the commas in the link and truncate the link at that point
when clicking on it.

Thanks for pointing out the commas in the url, they're hard to spot. I
copied and pasted the link and was able to see the page in question ok.
Next time I get a "Page unavailable" error, I'll take a closer look at
the url for those pesky commas.

There is no need to identify the channel between programs when the same
can be easily achieved by having a small graphic in the corner of the
screen during the program.

In that case (if it keeps the damned DOG at bay), it's money well spent! :-)

I think you meant _Idents_ (or were you thinking of the budgetary impact?)

On BBC News Peter Fincham, BBC controller, said this about idents vs
DOGs.

"What we don't do, we don't do on BBC 1 and the other terrestrial
channels don't do, we don't put a logo up in the corner of the screen
reminding you constantly that this is BBC 1. I don't think we should,
I hope we never will.".

On the new idents, they look like they might be quite cool, but you can
never make a decent judgement on these too quickly. I remember the
balloon idents being derided initially, but loved soon afterwards.
That said, I'm not convinced that the dancers were ever that well
loved.

As for value for money. I can't find anything much to watch on any
other channel, so I regard the Beeb as still great value.

Point of order: For some unknown and illogical reason, "BBC TWO" has DOG
**** overnight and it says BBC TWO.

So students studying for exams and learning things are expected to remember
what they are studying and what they videoed but can't remember what channel
they are watching. Too much white stuff going through noses at the BBC, I
say.

Ugg! A DOG-lover!

I assumed he was being ironic.

How long is it before radio channels have the name of the station repeated
throughout every record played?...

Uhh yeah, they already do that to certain gramophonic recording played back
on the young persons light service (Radio 1). If they can get away with it
they'll cut a jingle in over the start on the track. And if it's Pete Tong
or any other dancy type show, then all you hear is the same bloody jingle
every 30 seconds.....
