I tried again last Sunday and the same result. Any programme in particular, just to give it a try? It was The 4400 both times. So you'd better be quick tonight. Eric I taped that last week without any problems. I just recorded it right through without a problem. -- Paul (I have tried in my way to be free) ------------------------------------------------------ Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

... I've been reading a number of posts in web-based forums recently that seem to imply that those people who have external DVD/VHS recorders connected to their $ky boxes are increasingly getting their recordings blocked because $ky has started to implement Macrovision encoding on certain channels. I've seen reports of $ky's film channels and $ky1/2/3 being affected. I'm not a $ky subscriber any more, but I do still have a $ky box with a DVD recorder connected for occasional recordings from the FTV/FTA channel offerings. Thus far, I haven't seen any problem. Are these reports correct, or is it just people not being to operate their recording equipment properly? Clem That's dead clever how you replaced S for $. Amazing that. -- RCE Defiant |

The old macrovision I recall was like a pulsing to the image. I thought what they were discussing here was a digital block, the kind which comes up saying "You can't record this as it is secured" or some such crap. -- Paul (I have tried in my way to be free) ------------------------------------------------------ Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

On Sunday evening I tried taping manually. $ky3 was still failing. $ky1 & 2, BBC etc were fine. By failing I mean brightness cycling up & down every 2 seconds or so & losing sync. If I see this again I'll try the other $ky box I have. Eric -- Remove the dross to contact me directly |
