Sony 34" WEGAź Flat Screen HDTV (KD34XBR970) SON KD34XBR970
I'm thinking of going with a conventianal tube HDTV insted of a Plasma or LCD, anyone familiar with this model? Opinions, thoughts.
At the moment I have regular cable, some chanel show some programs on HD at time, could I see them without any converter seeing that this model does NTSC/ATSC/QAM.
Thanks

I've got a friend with that set (or last year's version). Very nice
picture, but it is one *HUGE* box. Definitely check your space and
measure the set. And get a weightlifting friend to help you position
it. Yes, you should be able to receive any local network feeds
carried by your cable without a converter. And of course you can get
any OTA digital stations if you hook up a proper antenna.

I have this tv's predecessor, the KV-34HS420. With the 970 they added
digital tuners (ATSC/QAM), independent input memory and a few other
niceties.

This is a very fine HDTV. In fact, it's the best large widescreen crt
HD set on the market today.

I'd wait a while for the SED sets to come out next year.
Supposed to combine CRT technology in a flatpanel design!

The German computer magazine, c't, had a comparison test between
Plasma, LCD and CRT sets in a recent issue. CRT came in dead last as
far as pix quality was concerned. LCD had the sharpest pictures and
Plasma the best colors.

There is always something new and better in the horizon...

Thanks again.
