Default HDTV Locals

Has anyone heard any kind of an estimate for further roll out of locals in
HDTV via Dish Network or Direct TV? I am mainly concerned with the
Wausau/Rhinelander, Wisconsin market. Just curious because if it is several
years out, that may impact the TV I purchase.

I'm in Western NY.

I had a Directv peddler come by today. He spent a long time trying to make
the sell. I have HD cable now & had dish network in the past. After talking
about locals & HD, I said I'm happy with HD locals on cable & he said to
expect them on DTV by the end of the year. He said it took a couple/few
months for the HD locals to be available "after the new equipment
changeover" in certain areas, he said, so expects the same time window from
now. Then again, he's an independent salesman...

His biggest push was NFL Ticket... something about getting the 250 channel
total choice free if you sign up for the Ticket. Hard to read his writing
but said locals were free, HD was $10, total choice was $99.95, $5 2nd
receiver, so $115 minus $10 for 15 months. He said buy the NFL Ticket at
$70/mo for 4 months and all that other stuff comes free for the 4 months and
HD locals would be available during the NFL season before the end of the
year.

You know the funny thing is I am in CT(New Haven, near Fairfield County) and
if I went Dish, we would have to settle for CT only localswhen we are used
to getting NY/NJ/CT locals. In Fairfield(NYC DMA proper) we would get NY/NJ
only locals. I mean the CT stations are good for nothing, but the NYC
stations do not always report CT news on the regular. I do admit that CT
gets more billing than Staten Island though.
