I'm considering a cheap TV/phone/broadband package deal from NTL, and
would be interested in stories both good and bad. How does it compare to Sky+? Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------- Please do NOT use the email address in the headers - it is a spam-trap. I have a Telewest TVDrive, I hadn't realised they'd extended it to NTL areas as well. I think it's great, and reasonably priced compared with the SkyHD box. There are still a few software problems but mine's been fairly stable since the early teething trouble. It's certainly not as sophisticated as Sky+, it does series links but doesn't learn what you like to watch, and you can't program it from a distance by phone or internet so far. The only HD channels so far are BBC and ITV (and the ITV channel basically shows US TV Movies as there's little other HD content available to them). I assuming Sky will eventually allow their HD channels on as well and there is HD content on the Teleport VoD service which you get free with the top TV package. Hope that's some help. Stew |

Assuming you are in an ntl area rather than a Telewest area, they do not, as yet, have TVDrive or any box similar to Sky+. It is promised in the next few months. It probably won't be the same model at the TW TVDrive either, I think NTL were starting with the next model up from SA, the main difference being that it uses MPEG4 for the HDTV. People with TW TVDrives will presumably have to upgrade again at some point. Stewart |
